May 1, 2018

In this blog post, we’ll learn a little more about Mike Fauver’s new role at XiFin as AVP, Health Systems. Mike has more than 13 years of hands-on industry experience in revenue cycle management (RCM) for hospital and health system outreach laboratories. Prior to joining XiFin, Mike was Manager of Revenue Cycle at Mayo Medical Laboratories.

Q: How will you be helping XiFin clients in your new role, Mike?

A: One of the biggest parts of my new role is helping new XiFin clients plan their processes and connections between all of the systems that touch the RCM process from an outreach lab perspective. I help clients map out and understand the workflows and connections for every step of the process from receiving an order through reimbursement, including things like error handling and capturing missing data. My goal is to help our outreach clients better understand what will be different from their prior systems and processes and how things will work using the new XiFin solution to make their transition easy.

Q. What are some of the unique things about working with outreach labs?

A. Generally, outreach labs have more connection points in the RCM process. This means that the workflow processes can be more complex. As a result, understanding and executing the right workflow and data exchanges between connecting systems is essential. My experience on the client side includes efforts such as implementing and utilizing the XiFin RPM system, managing elements of an LIS replacement, and supporting the introduction of computerized physician order entry (CPOE) systems. These experiences give me great insight and perspective on what our outreach clients need to be is set up for success.

Q. What else do you do to make sure our new outreach clients have a positive experience?

A. I work with our outreach clients to understand their finance and reporting needs, as this impacts how we set up their systems. We provide guidance on best practices and key performance indicators (KPIs) that we think will help them gain new insight into their operational and financial performance. We show them how they can will now be able to track lots of information that was previously unavailable to them, such as profit by client.

Q. How else has your new role impacted how XiFin delivers top quality service to outreach clients?

A. I help our outsource billing services team better understand the needs of our outreach clients. For example, I help design and communicate new requirements that are unique to our outreach clients to our engineering team so that the needs of our outreach clients are better met by our solutions and services going forward.
