An Essential Guide to Obtaining Z-Codes for Molecular and Genetic Tests
Slash the time it takes to get the Z-Codes you need
One of the nation’s largest health insurers is making major changes in how it processes claims for molecular and genetic tests. Effective August 1, 2023, UnitedHealthcare (UHC) will require Z-Codes for almost 250 CPT codes.
Any claim submitted on or after August 1 that does not have the required Z-Code will not be paid. That means diagnostic laboratories have just a few weeks to comply with this new directive. Our own Kyle Fetter, Chief Operating Officer at XiFin is one of the featured experts in this complimentary on-demand webinar, which has been provided through an educational grant by XiFin.

- The A-Z process of applying for a Z-Code, providing the required documentation of test accuracy and clinical utility, and receiving the Z-Code, your lab will need to have its molecular and genetic test claims paid by UHC after August 1, 2023.
- Lessons learned in the process of submitting a Z-Code application and interacting with the DEX MoIDx program — from initial submission through the granting of a Z-Code.
- How to meet the molecular and genetic test requirements of Medicare’s MoIDx program, including successfully obtaining the Z-Codes needed to submit Medicare claims in the 28 states participating in the MoIDx program.
