Modifier 33 Allowable When Billing Laboratory Codes

Effective for dates of service on or after November 1, 2016, modifier 33 may be billed with all laboratory codes. Claims billed using modifier 33 are not subject to specific ICD-10-CM inclusion and/or exclusion criteria. Use of modifier 33 indicates the service was provided in accordance with a U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) A or B recommendation.
