Blue Advantage® – Claim Filing Requirement for 83036

In 2014, BCBS Alabama implemented Blue Advantage filing requirements for certain specialties to obtain a more complete picture of member health on the claim. Beginning February 3, 2015, their strategy focused on maximizing member value at the time of their Initial Preventive Physical Examination (IPPE) or Annual Wellness Visit (AWV). The requirement established in 2014 that any claim submitted with CPT code 83036 (Hemoglobin A1c) must include a line item with the result using a CPT II procedure code will continue for 2015. Effective January 1, 2016, CPT code 83037 (Hemoglobin A1c Home Device) will also require a line item with the result using a CPT II procedure code.
